ABOUT PIXEL7777

PIXEL7777 is Pavel Gospodinov's web site dedicated to the digital art - digital painting, digital fine art photography, travel photography.

(1) The digital painting is an emerging art form in which traditional painting techniques such as watercolour, oils, impasto, etc. are applied using digital tools by means of a computer, a digitizing tablet and stylus, and software. Digital painting differs from other forms of digital art and computer-generated art, in particular, in that it does not involve the computer rendering from a model. The artist uses painting techniques to create the digital painting directly on the computer.

The main difference between digital and traditional painting is the non-linear process. That is, an artist can often arrange their painting in layers that can be edited independently. Also, the ability to undo and redo strokes frees the artist from a linear process. But digital painting is limited in how it employs the techniques and study of a traditional painter because of the surface differences and lack of physicality. The digital artist has at their disposal several tools not available to the traditional painter. Some of these include: a virtual palette consisting of millions of colours, almost any size canvas or media, the ability to take back mistakes, erasures, pencils, spray cans, brushes, combs, and a variety of 2D and 3D effect tools. A graphics tablet allows the artist to have very precise hand movement simulating a real pen and drawing surface. .

Digital painting thrives mostly in production art. It's most widely used in conceptual design for film, television and video games. Digital painting software such as Corel Painter, Studio Artist, Adobe Photoshop, Jasc Paint Shop Pro, ArtRage, Project Dogwaffle and openCanvas give artists a similar environment to a physical painter: a canvas, painting tools, mixing palettes, and a multitude of colour options. There are various types of digital painting, including impressionism, realism, and watercolour.

(2) Fine art photography, sometimes simply called art photography, refers to photographs that are created to fulfill the creative vision of the artist. In the 19th and 20th century, prints were usually done in limited editions to inflate their value to dealers, and collectors.

In the 21st century, a fine art print can be mass reproduced at a greater quality than can be done individually.
An artist doing fine art photography is creating photographs primarily to satisfy their own sense of beauty. The final creative reason for a fine art photograph is the photograph itself. It is not a means to another end except perhaps to please those besides the photographer who behold it. Fine art photography can be used to promote something.
They are created most importantly to be true to the artist’s vision of beauty.

Giclee prints

For the artworks from the digital paintings and fine art photography I use Epson STYLUS COLOR 2100 and Eson STYLUS COLOR 9600 printers. Each copy has a unique number. The available number of copies is 77.

Both printers uses long lasting pigment inks. These pigments are capable of faithfully reproducing even the subtlest fine art. They also have the advantage of being one of the most archival ink sets currently available. Independent tests done by Wilhelm Imaging Research, the leading testing lab for the longevity of colour printing materials, predicts that prints made with the Epson Stylus 2100 Ultrachrome pigment inks, framed with UV Plexiglas under normal indoor lighting conditions, will last over 100 years before any noticeable fading occurs. The inks used for printing posters and the dye based inks used in the Iris ink-jet printers will not last nearly as long. Also, while it is not recommended that any fine art colour print be exposed to ultra violet light for extended periods of time, the Epson pigments are far more resistant to UV light than dye based inks.

I am using PhotoShelter.com to organize, distribute and sell images from my digital paintings, high quality fine art and travel photography collections.

PhotoShelter is not an agency and does not represent me, or act as a middle man for my negotiations. PhotoShelter is a direct sales channel, which can be used by my clients to order prints or licenses.
